We had a birth this morning! A little boy (we were hoping for a little girl) but he is so cute and will be a rose grey like his mom, he’s so little! My son is watching to make sure he could latch on to nurse and the little one did, the colostrum is important. He will be weighed this evening and they will pick out a name for him so he can be registered. I told my son he should name the little one Ozzy Osborn, but he said, he doesn’t look like an Ozzy, and I thought, what does an Ozzy alpaca look like? LOL. Anyway a name will be forthcoming. He’s doing well so far, he was about an hr old in the right bottom picture. My son put one of his whippet’s sweaters on him because it started raining, so he wouldn’t get cold. The mom wasn’t real happy but she allowed it.
How exciting!!! A new baby!!!!

Hehe, probably not, she was not happy when my son put the sweater on him, she makes a trilling noise, one I’ve not heard them make before. We will let people know they need to give her and the new baby some room. LOL, she is a hyper mom!!!

Hopefully she’ll calm down and let you near him before he’s full grown!! He’s just so adorable, I don’t know if I could help myself!

This is her 2nd cria but it’s been about 3 years ago, so she’s a little fisty about him :). I know tho, you just want to hug the stuffins out of him :P.

HAHA!! I have some cria and a baby llama fleece I need to clean and use my combs on so I can spin it and I get to feel it the whole time I’m spinning (and the fiber won’t run or give me the stink eye :P) when I get to it! So many projects I have to knit and so little time, ugh!

Did you knit the Alpaca sweater? It is so cute. How exciting. There were alpacas at the wool festival I went to yesterday. As I understand, alpaca yarn is super warm so I haven’t knit with alpaca yet.

Hehe, no it’s an acrylic sweater that is one of my son’s whippet’s sweater (they are very short hair dogs and need extra warmth to go outside in the winter). Kinda funny that an alpaca is wearing an acrylic sweater LOL.
Alpaca is 3 times warmer than wool, so if you knit something with alpaca (and it is very soft to knit with) I wouldn’t get anything thicker than sport weight until you are in a very cold area and then I would stick with worsted weigh unless you are out in very low sub 0 weather. I made a hat out of bulky for my son in law and he said it too hot unless it’s 30 below LOL.
