I received this beautiful orchid from two little family members. It is so beautiful, it is my Valentines Day gift. How lucky am I :), I haven’t received Valentines Day flowers in a long time.
Hope you have lots of Chocolate!!!

Finally back to the Hermione’s Everyday Socks! This is a free pattern on Ravelry. These are a birthday gift for a family member who is knit worthy :). Her birthday is today so she will not get them on time, but I told her that and she said she was willing to wait for a hand knit item. This will be her first peek at them, thought it only fair since she isn’t getting them today lol.
Wish my photography skills were better, you can’t really see the design for this pattern, tho’ the darker nature of the yarn also hampers that. I am getting ready to start the heel on both socks. I like knitting them together, makes them seem to go faster, you can make sure the leg and foot are the same length, and you don’t end up with second sock syndrome (for my non knitter friends that is when you have finished the first sock and aren’t in the mood to start the second :P.) A friend on Ravelry is going to do a video showing how she does the heel and gusset on the 9 inch circulars (9 inch circs are my preference for knitting socks). I usually change to the double pointed needles for the heel and gusset but if I don’t have to do that, it would be great! When she gets the video up, I will post a link to it. 🙂
February sent us a little reminder that yes, it’s still winter (actually this can go on through April here.) The weatherman said we would get between 2 to 6 inches of snow and we got around 4 inches. I didn’t resize the picture to be smaller so you can see the slow flakes coming down (if you look at the tree trunk or the garage doors across the road.) My camera doesn’t take good pictures of snow fall, I wish that we could leave the picture smaller and that it would enlarge when you click on it like it use to on WordPress, if it still will I haven’t figured it out yet. This was taken around 4 pm, the snow started around noon and continued until around 6pm. The weather report says tho’ we will have little flurries here and there until Thursday, that there will be several more systems coming to drop snow on us on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with up to a couple of inches with each system. So nice to be able to hunker down somewhere warm and knit or spin and watch “Little House on the Prairie” or “You’ve Got Mail” or any other show or movie you love to watch.
Finished! I was so excited to get the picture taken that I put the mitts on the wrong side of each other, sigh, the thumbs should be facing each other, oh well, at least I didn’t forget to take it :). Altho’ I think they turned out nicely and they match my friend’s 3 color cowl, I really am not a big fan of changing colors, and that is why I rarely knit color work. When you knit with the large blocks of color there are so many ends to weave in (tho you can’t really call this color work because it’s just changing colors after large blocks of color), but it just reminds me that color work is not really my thing. I can do it, and I admire the color work others do, just don’t enjoy knitting it myself :P. I do love knitting textures and lace work :).
Here is our progress on our Diagonal Garter Stitch scarfs. We are coming along. Glad I didn’t have as many stitches as Keri :P, but she has much less time to knit than I do :). Looking forward to the color changes on her scarf :).
I’m coming along on the Te Ara Fingerless Mitts. I will have this finished by Saturday and ready to give to my friend on Sunday :). They match the 3 Color Cowl I made for her. I hope she will enjoy these. 🙂 I’ll get a picture of them finished before I give them to her.
Hope everyone is enjoying the first day of February. It’s the last official month of winter, YEA!!!! Spring is just around the corner I can hardly wait :).
