The snow pictures are in order, last night about 2 hrs after the snow started, it wasn’t sticking to the road yet *(actually I think this is the start of the last snow we had, but they look about the same so I mixed them up, and now I can’t find the picture I took lol, so oops). Then this morning just before sun up, and last tonight after sun down. It snowed for about 24 hrs and we got about 7 inches tho at the airport they measured 13 inches, whoa. I’d say our Christmas snow arrived a little late :P. More snow storms coming this week but not sure how much snow they will bring, I’m sure they will add to the pile as our temps are going down :P. This one was a very big storm.
The last picture is the Pop Rox I am spinning. Had some eye surgery a few weeks ago and I go back to the doctor later this month for new glasses so I can see better. All in all it was worth it. I can see the color on the roving and yarn so much better! I’m about 2/3rds done with this bobbin, then one more to spin before I ply. Trying to figure out in the mean time if I want to just ply regular or try the chain ply again so the colors stay together. I need to figure it out before I finish this single because if I chain ply I will just continue to spin on this bobbin until it’s full.
Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Forgot the cutest one! This is Everest from my son’s alpaca farm, he was out in the snow today and decided to come in the barn for a bite or two. They come in and out of the barn as they wish to get out of the wind or other weather. Note that the snow doesn’t melt on him, his fiber is very dense and water resistant. They are lovers of the cold, me? not so much!
We got about a foot of snow in Rhinebeck. Then yesterday, another storm came through with rain. Now the walks and driveways are clear and about 3″ of snow remains. Thankfully, we did not have flooding.

Yeah, we got more than normal, in a normal single snow event for us we get about 3 to 4 inches at a time. Sorry you all are having overly wet events :(. I lived in Framingham, MA when I was young and I remember the deeper snow we got there (reminds me of the joke about walking up hill both ways in the snow – they must have lived in MA LOL). Unfortunately this storm is probably hitting your now? More snow coming through here later today and Friday through Sat, so be prepared for possible more snow coming in for you :(, and hopefully not rain. Better snow than rain, it melts (under normal circumstances) slower and less flooding. Tho we did have a huge flooding event here in 2008 when we didn’t get our normal mid winter thaw. When spring came and the snow melt caused the river, that comes through the middle of the city, to flood 5 miles out on both sides of the river, even covering the tops of the closest buildings to the river. It was in the fall before roads were opened, overpasses had been damaged, one of the hospitals had flooding and had to be closed and cleaned up, which made the other hospital overly busy. Was truly a disaster.

I do see where more weather is expected. We are currently under a flood warning. Rain is expected Saturday. That storm from ’08 sounds absolutely catastrophic. Water is so destructive. More than anything else, it gives me angst.

Hope it’s not enough rain to flood 😦

Wow, that’s a lot of snow, and it looks like Everest is loving it–so cute!!

He does lol, they spend a lot of time out in it even tho they could just stay in the barn. 😛
Over the winter we get more than that, but for one snow here it’s a bit more than normal. And more coming Wed and Friday tho I don’t think it will be quite as much as snow.

Looks like you’ve seen the last of grass for a while! Stay warm and I hope your eyes and glasses work out so you can enjoy your spinning fuller!
Good thing Everest isn’t white, you’d never find him 😉

HAHA, loved about Everest not being white, made me laugh!
We will at some point have a mid winter thaw, but maybe that was earlier when we didn’t have cold temps in Dec and very little snow. But yeah, probably not a lot of ground will show before melting occurs because we have 2 more storms coming in starting tonight and then Friday. My sight is strange, I can see close midrange with my left eye and it seems to make up for the right eye that sees further out midrange better. So spinning isn’t as much a problem as knitting. My glasses help for knitting but my eyes get tired easily, since those lens aren’t right for them anymore, from straining to see. As my mom always said “It will all come out in the wash” 😛

Sometimes the wash doesn’t get done soon enough for us! Be nice if we had glasses and whatnot that worked like you need them to, instead of compromising all the time. I have one eye near sighted and one eye far sighted. It’s a pain in the butt sometimes for sure!
Enjoy that lovely winter blanket you’re gonna be under for a while – it makes spring all the more welcome!

It does make you appreciate spring more, it’s my favorite time of the year!!!

I just watched a 5-minite PragerU video on how gratitude increases happiness… and there you go proving it – you’re grateful for spring and it makes you happy! Look at that, it works!
