FOs and Better Late than Never

I finished the latest of the Hats for Warmth project. I liked the colors, hope it will keep someone warm next winter. I really like the cotton yarn I got at Hobby Lobby, I love this Cotton. It’s very soft and this was the 2nd wash cloth I got from it with some left over, tho I’m pretty sure I’d lose a game of yarn chicken if I started another, time to buy some more :P. This is the Granny’s Favorite dish cloth pattern, you can tell it’s a diagonal knit with the stripes. I’m going to start, some time this week, the 2nd bobbin of my multi color tweed spin. Still not sure if I want to chain ply each bobbin separately to keep the colors separate and have two half skeins or just go ahead and do a fractal ply. That’s me, last min decisions!

I try to have a picture of the Robbins when they first come back for spring. But they are not helpful in that aspect. I saw the first one about 6 weeks ago but they were only out where I could see them when I was driving and that wasn’t helpful. I was parked at the drs office earlier this week and lo and behold one where I could get a picture!!! He was running back and forth staking out his territory. I don’t get them every year because they are not always worried about rather I can get their picture or not lol. I have a feeling the males out there looking now probably missed the boat on a companion this year :(.

I forgot to get pictures when I was out at the farm :(, but I will try hard to remember to do that this next week. In the mean time here is one they took at the farm. I am calling the alpacas the motley crew right now because they are in need of sheering, which happens next month lol, then they will look more dignified and a lot thinner, their fleece is very thick. Can you find Libby? She’s only about 7 months old and already the size of the adult alpaca. They changed the llama’s name from Belle to Libby because my son has an African grey parrot named Belle (who is a character). Libby’s registered (call) name is When Liberty Rings. Libby the Llama has a ring to it, lol. She is friendly, no fear and sweet.

General Conference 4/6 and 4/7 2024

I love General Conference Weekend, and I forgot to post this earlier so you could see the Saturday sessions :(, but in my behalf, I’m dealing with bronchitis. General Conference is generally the 1st weekend in April and Oct every year. It’s listening to wonderful spiritual talks by our Prophet and Apostles and other leaders of our Church. The peace and council help ground us and remind us of how much our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ love us all. We are all brothers and sisters and knowing that helps in a sometimes chaotic world. We are here learning lessons of forgiving and serving others like our Savior did so that we can learn to be like him, not always an easy task, but necessary.

Farm Update :)

My son added a 6 month old Llama to his herd. They are pack animals in Central and South America, Alpacas aren’t really big enough to be pack animals they were more for fiber. Llamas can be fiber animals as well, tho they tend to have a lot more guard hairs, but they can have pretty soft fiber as well. She not full height yet, when I get down there next I’ll take a picture of Belle and an alpaca so you can see the difference, but her ears are a dead give away :). I’m hoping she will be a guard Llama, time will tell, they aren’t all good at that. I’ll let you know as she grows up.

He also added a peacock and a pea hen to his farm. They are not mature yet as you can tell by the lack of color in the peacocks tail. He said they were India Blues, because those are his favorite. They are in a large shed to protect them while they are getting use to his farm. The pole above them is their roost area. I haven’t seen the set up yet but I’m sure he has them in his old baby chick pen so they can’t get out of the fenced in area and predators can’t get to them. He’s very protective of his animals!

My Spring Knitting Box :)

This came from Twice Sheared Sheep. She has a Christmas Advent box, that can be signed up for, but I’m not sure when she will open it to be pre-ordered, they go fast. This box is part of 3 boxes of 2024, spring, summer and fall, and they have to be signed up for by sometime in Feb. Next year is the next time to sign up for them.

OK! In the first picture is everything that was in the box, then I took pictures to show them a little better. I didn’t show the bag in a separate picture because it showed up well in the main picture (sorry forgot to get a picture of the bell flower stitch markers and they are hard to see in the main picture, you can see them better in the 3rd picture). I was so excited to see these beautiful gifts. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are just more explanation of the items in the box. The yarn is beautiful and so is the round (rather than long) dried flower stitch counter/marker, and the stitch marker tin (it slides open) and the journal are so cool. I have a picture of the outside and inside of the journal, you can put so much information in it! I was so excited to see the blockers, I have wanted (but never justified the money because I’m cheap :P) some of these so I didn’t have to put the millions of straight pins in to block a shawl or scarf etc (yeah I will need another box or two of these). The stickers are cool as well. I hope there will be a tin separator in the next box for the tin, it makes an oblong X in the box to separate the different knitting stitch markers/progress keepers or you can not put one in and put small scissors and a needle in instead. One for each of the bags I use is my eventual plan, they come in a smaller size as well.

Had to take my car in this past Monday for an oil change and tune up. I make sure the oil is changed when it should be and do the tune up every year because it’s cheaper to do those things than to buy a new engine, tho those things aren’t cheap anymore either. I also had them check my battery strength and my brakes. They also checked all my fluid levels and said my battery and brakes were fine. I have a great mechanic and the business is always good to and honest with me, they never do extra stuff that didn’t need to be done. I’ve been going to them for about 13 years. I would have rather slept in but my car comes first, no car means no way to get around lol. I am still meeking (my way to say complaining) about losing an hr of sleep in the mornings, because going to bed early is not my natural time clock. I should be use to it about the time they change the clock back, sigh.
