I am spinning a deep stash cria (baby alpaca) fiber on my Rick Reeves wheel. 1st bobbin is done, this will probably end up plying as a sport weight yarn. It looks thin, but after I wash it, it will plump up and be a bit thicker. Alpaca is a slippery fiber to spin and takes a practiced hand so I wouldn’t suggest alpaca to a beginner spinner, but I really like it, it’s so soft to spin. After I get the 2nd bobbin done and ply the two bobbins together, my plan is to turn it into hat for a friend :). I have started the 2nd bobbin and will work on it tomorrow :).
We are back in the 80’s this week, sigh, 90 on Friday and 89 on Saturday, but next week it will be in the lower to middle 70’s. If only the weather could make up its mind :P. Of course I will probably complain this winter when it’s way below 0 too :P.
Eeek! Terrible weather for spinning… Shorts? Pants?
I am sure it’ll be a very beautiful yarn when done β€

I was going to spin today and hope I could have a skein done by Sunday (washed and hung to dry) but alas, I felt like knitting today so I worked on the blanket instead and will be knitting tonight for Thursday night football :). Tomorrow I need to get cracking on the spin :).

Well don’t treat it like a job, you’ll never do it!!
How’s the blanket coming along??

You are right, but I’m anxious to get the skein done and make the hat :), sometimes I have to make myself get started and then “poof” I can spin or knit peacefully, not sure why I have to make my self get started on stuff sometimes that I love to do, but…..

It’s true! Sometimes you have to put your own foot down!! Maybe you feel guilty, like you should be doing something else?? I find that to be true in my case.
Show us your blanket!!! I want to see how pretty it is! Yeah, the adding length isn’t always what’s best for the proportions.

I’ll try to add a picture of it tomorrow π

The blanket is progressing, I’m almost to the place where I can start the border or add to the length. I’m leaning toward adding to the length, but I’m going to measure it when I have the last pattern done before I make that final decision. π

I knitted a hat with alpaca and because it has no memory it is a little unreliable at staying put on my head. Every time I used to bend to pick up after our old dog it would slip down over my eyes. π I still like I thought as itβs lightweight and warm.

Yeah, I will be making it have a little negative ease :). But yeah they are toasty warm!! Maybe the dog thought you were hiding from him π
