Knitting Update and an Agaparthus Plant

Time for a knitting update. Picture one – (if you click on the picture it will enlarge) I have been working on my Hats for Warmth project so I will have hats for the homeless shelter this fall, gotta get a head start on it :P. The finished one is from I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby, color Deep Sea Diving/842. The one next to it is still from Hobby Lobby but it’s their Yarn ID, color Indigo, it looks like a denim. Really pretty. I am also using that same yarn and color for a new Look for Happiness Blanket. I really like the softness of this yarn. I love this pattern and find it extremely comforting and peaceful to knit. It is for a Christmas gift and since it’s the medium size instead of the baby size, it will take about 6 skeins, I decided I needed to start early, but to be honest, I don’t mind knitting on it all year long at all.

The 2nd picture is an Agaparthus plant. My son gave it to me about 5 or 6 years ago for Mother’s Day and it did well outside the first year and had so many blooms. It did not like it inside my house tho’ when winter came and I needed to bring it in, I do not have the full sun it needs inside my apt. I struggled to barely kept it alive and because it was so weak I was afraid to leave it outside in our sometimes windy and very hot summers , and then all of a sudden it’s come back to life and has a stalk that might actually bloom. When I know the warm is here to stay I will try to put it outside again and hope it will grow!! Time will tell.

  1. What a cool plant! Make sure you show us when it blooms! The color is just gorgeous!

Thank you again for inspiring me! I have been prowling around here looking for something to do, and now I know exactly what it is! I’m headed over to Hobby Lobby to get enough yarn to knit that blanket!!

    • It’s a great pattern, you just need to remember that row one, of the middle section of the pattern, is started on the wrong side (a purl side) instead of the right side (knit side), lol, or you will be very confused! I frogged my start once thinking I had messed up until I got it that row one was started on the purl side :P.

      • I just use my markers to mark the end of the 1st (outside) border (seed stitch) and the end of the 2nd (inside) border stockinette stitch then the end of the longer middle section and the end of the inside stockinette stitch border at the end :). So just 4 stitch markers to keep the borders straight. They just remind me, “oh yeah I need to start a different stitch”, maybe your brain works better than mine tho :P.

      • No ma’am, it does not work better! Some projects have like 50 markers in them!! And if it’s lace, I have 3-4 lifelines along with the markers! I need every trick I can get my hands on. And I often start a project 5-6 times if I make a mistake.

I’m looking forward to starting it – after i finish my Frenchie dishcloth palette cleanser πŸ˜‰

      • Honestly I like this blanket (after it’s started) and the 2X2 ribbed hats I knit for the homeless shelter as my palette cleansers and when I need to work on something mindless or almost mindless because my brain isn’t into anything complicated. I hope you love it as much as I do!

  2. I recognized the blanket pattern from your previous cheery-yellow project! It looks so different in a dark yarn. πŸ™‚ Some plants can be so resilient, I hope yours thrives!

    • Color does make a difference in patterns!!! I chose this color because blue is her favorite and I thought denim is a nice color. I am putting a picture up on my blog of the bloom sometime today. πŸ™‚
