New Hat Tag and Christmas Designs & Peacock

Added another word to the hat tags, hope they will feel loved. These are sewn in, was afraid the pop on brads might come off in the wash.

The next picture is of some Christmas die cut stickers. They will look good on wood to make Christmas tree decoration gifts. They are from SimpleSouthernMommy on Etsy, she even sent samples of some of her other designs :).

The last picture is of my son’s young peacock trying to strut his stuff, lol. He has about 2 more years before he has all his feathers in proper and they are in full color, in the mean time he’s practicing :). My son in law said he was trying to impress the hens, they couldn’t have cared less. LOL

Monday Funny!

I have a love/hate relationship with auto correct and my favorite name for it is Auto Incorrect. I was telling a friend I needed to get rid of my elliptical machine for the room and auto incorrect took it upon itself to change it to what you see above. Sigh, go figure, maybe I need a lipstick machine instead, it’s gotta take up less room. The next couple of Monday Funnies are going to be dedicated to Auto Incorrect, apparently I’m not the only one that is plagued with its peculiar “sense of humor” :P.

Knitting FO’s, a WIP and Mending

Time to update my knitting projects. In the top picture are two new for my Hats for Warmth Project I work on. I have 6 hats and the children will get 4, the other 2 will go in my bag to be sent to the shelter when I have 5 or 6 done. The hats I worked on during General Conference as I listened :). I use “I Love This Yarn” from Hobby Lobby, it’s a worsted weight yarn, and I use a size 5 (I knit a little loosely so I go down a size needle) 16″ circular needle (my favorite is the Knitters Pride Karbonz) in a two by two ribbing. For adults I like to make it 9 1/2 to 9 3/4 inches long so they can fold up the cuff (it’s too cold for a beanie here) and I don’t have to measure their heads for length that way :). ZeusHide on Etsy.

Next is the baby blanket I have been working on. This is a paid for pattern so I’ve linked to the Ravelry page so you can see more about it. I think I bought it from Webs patterns tho, I think that is where I first saw it. It is turning out to be a nice cosy easy knit. Turned out the lady I was knitting it for wasn’t pregnant (one reason I don’t ask because who wants to be embarrassed! LOL someone else asked). So I will continue to work on it at my leisure and enjoy the knit. Maybe it could be a lap blanket for someone at Christmas :). You can see the yarn I am using. It’s from Hobby Lobby, it’s soft, came in a large skein and was 30% off (which Hobby Lobby does every other week for its yarn). It will take the whole skein, but with the discount it was only a little over 8 dollars for the skien! It is a worsted weight 16oz skein, acrylic for easier washing. Without the discount it is $12.

The last small picture is 4 pairs of alpaca socks from my son’s store, a little critter snuck into his store and chewed them up. He had to go through all his merchandise to make sure everything else was ok and he put out traps to catch the little bugger. He’s not had the problem before so he’s looking to see where it came in at. He told me if I could fix them I could have them, so I said sure and I ordered what’s in the 4th picture, a nice darning set. The little flower looking thing is a needle threader, how cool!!! I was watching Knitting Expat from YouTube on her Finishing Fridays podcast and thought I could do that, no telling what they will look like but they will be wearable and since it’s on the toes or heels, no one will see it. They are different sizes so I think I can fix two of them one for my son and one for his spouse and the other two I can wear one and give the other one so someone else who wears an XL (it’s one of the colorful ones) tho with the toes involved, maybe it won’t be XL after I mend it lol. They are very thick and soft!

Gonna go make spaghetti for supper. 😉

General Conference 4-5 and 4-6 2024

I love General Conference Weekend. General Conference is generally the 1st weekend in April and Oct every year. It’s listening to wonderful spiritual talks by our Prophet and Apostles and other leaders of our Church. The peace and council help ground us and remind us of how much our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ love us all. We are all brothers and sisters and knowing that helps in a sometimes chaotic world. We are here learning lessons of forgiving and serving others like our Savior did so that we can learn to be like him, not always an easy task, but necessary.

Hope you will join in listening to this General Conference. If you miss any of talks and want to go back and listen they will be on the Church’s website.  https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org  Saturday they are central time 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 5pm, the same times tomorrow (Sunday.)

Praying for much peace for you all, and may we ever be grounded in the Lord, we need it. Please pray for peace, comfort and help for all those devastated by hurricane Helena.

Alpaca Farm Days & Hat Tags

Ok, as promised :). The top pictures from left to right – The first picture is my son’s sock machine, it was rather windy – you can see the yarn blowing in the breeze, lol. He can whip out a pair of socks in about an hr, pretty cool huh? It’s made of metal and he lets the kids that come take turns turning the handle making a tube, they love it. Next picture is my spinning wheel, a Rick Reeves double drive wheel. It’s the smallest of my two wheels and will actually fit in the back seat of my car. My Kromski Polonaise is much bigger and would have to be taken apart to travel in my car, and nope not gonna do that! I’m not as sharing with my wheel at the event, it’s not replaceable, lol. I spin and people watch and ask questions that I am very happy to answer about the alpaca fiber and the wheel and making yarn, I do let them feel the alpaca fiber :). That cria fiber spins like a dream!! The 3rd picture is my son’s drum carder that he makes batts with for the dryer balls he sells at his farm store. I have two and put lavender on them before they go in the dryer, makes my clothes smell nice :). Behind the drum carder you can see his little tractor, that makes it easier for all the farm stuff he and Ev have to attend to. The 4th picture is the skirting table he made so it would be easier for them to skirt the fleeces and let the dirt fall to the ground and behind that you can see the frame with seats he made and attached on the trailer (that he pulls with the tractor) for hay rack rides he does once a week, everyone seems to enjoy the ride and the fire pit making smores afterwards :). My son is very handy with making things. The bigger picture to the left are his pea fowl and a family member who came to help. The peacock is starting to color out on the feathers on his back and a little on his tail, but it will be another 2 years before he has full color on all his feathers. He already looks at himself in the mirror that my son set out for him, the peacock is a narcissist, lol. The next 3 pictures to the left are of some of his herd. I did cover up faces of two people who were there because I didn’t get to ask them if they minded being in my blog. The last of those 3 pictures is the newest cria that was born a month ago, they call him Wish, but his full name is Wish Upon a Star, because his mother’s name is Star. He’s a cutie.

The last picture at the bottom is a hat with the new tags I ordered. I didn’t get leather because I was worried about how they would handle being washed and I wanted these to be easy care hats with a little something extra, so these are faux leather (a thick vinyl, lol) I chose the one that looked like bamboo. I think they look nice and everyone likes something nice. For the shelter I will make some with Child of God showing and some with the knitted heart showing so they have a choice. I think when I reorder I will get the ones I have to sew on instead of the snaps so they won’t come off in the washing machine. I’m a worry wort and I worry about everything, lol.

Prayers are going still going out to all those who were affected by Helena, please keep asking Heavenly Father for peace and comfort and help for them all. The devastation was massive and the emotional toll, for those who lost family and/or all they had, is great :(. I saw that there are many people out there trying to start helping with clean up and bringing things in, water, food etc, even tho FEMA and the Red Cross weren’t out there yet (where the heck are they?). My church always assesses what is needed and sends truck loads of things and there will be some of my church members from all over going to help with the clean up as well. I know that Ryan Hall Ya’ll (a YouTube weatherman) also sends trucks of things out to help from donations from those who watch his channel. Because food and things are coming in, I think clean up and housing will be the biggest issues, along with accounting for everyone that is still missing. :(. My heart is broken for all of them.
