My son added a 6 month old Llama to his herd. They are pack animals in Central and South America, Alpacas aren’t really big enough to be pack animals they were more for fiber. Llamas can be fiber animals as well, tho they tend to have a lot more guard hairs, but they can have pretty soft fiber as well. She not full height yet, when I get down there next I’ll take a picture of Belle and an alpaca so you can see the difference, but her ears are a dead give away :). I’m hoping she will be a guard Llama, time will tell, they aren’t all good at that. I’ll let you know as she grows up.
He also added a peacock and a pea hen to his farm. They are not mature yet as you can tell by the lack of color in the peacocks tail. He said they were India Blues, because those are his favorite. They are in a large shed to protect them while they are getting use to his farm. The pole above them is their roost area. I haven’t seen the set up yet but I’m sure he has them in his old baby chick pen so they can’t get out of the fenced in area and predators can’t get to them. He’s very protective of his animals!
Wow! Look at all the pretties on the farm!!! I bet you can’t wait to meet your new grands!!

Ooh thanks for sharing. When I was a kid we lived in North Yorkshire for a few years and there were some peacocks 🦚 that used to perch on the opposite side of the road to our house and you certainly knew when they were around..what a noise, no alarm clocks needed 😂 they are beautiful though. Llama banana (ears) is how I remember the difference.

That’s the truth lol, their ears are a give away. Yeah I have heard peacocks before sounds like they are yelling a long drawn out HELP after a fashion. They are pretty tho :).

They said that the 3 alpaca born last spring love playing chase with her and they all lay down to rest together in the barn. So she has some friends already :).

Oh goodness. Sometimes I think it would be fun to have chickens and bees but even that is too much for me. But I love animals.

Bees would be nice, but they are a lot of work, even tho the honey sounds really nice :P. Chickens aren’t a lot of trouble and you get eggs! But unless you want baby chicks, don’t keep the roosters :P. My son had to make a saddle for the rooster’s favorite hens because the rooster pesters them and his spurs were pulling feathers off their backs and it gets cold here!
